Why We Started Blue Blankie Stories

Blue Blankie Stories began the same way many family traditions do: at bedtime.

We’re Mason and Mallory, parents to two little boys, Anderson and Miles, and a puppy named Rue. Like many families, bedtime quickly became one of our favorite parts of the day. It’s when the house finally slows down, the toys are put away, and we get a few precious moments together before sleep.

For Anderson, bedtime also meant stories. Lots of stories.

From the time he was little, Anderson has had a seemingly endless appetite for books and storytelling. We filled bookshelves, toy chests, baskets, and bedside tables with stories. We read every night, and somehow he was always ready for one more adventure.

But we started noticing a problem.

Anderson is imaginative, curious, and incredibly sensitive. Stories that seemed harmless to us like Bible stories, books with villains, adventurous tales with ninjas, dinosaurs, or even mild conflict could sometimes follow him into the night. A single scary moment could turn into bad dreams, tears, and sleepless nights.

As parents, we found ourselves constantly searching for stories that could still spark wonder and adventure without leaving him feeling anxious or afraid.

We wanted stories that were exciting, imaginative, and magical.

But we also wanted them to feel safe.

We wanted stories that could take him to the moon, through enchanted forests, across deserts, under the sea, and beyond the stars all without introducing the kind of fear that lingered after the lights went out.

When we couldn’t find exactly what we were looking for, we decided to create it ourselves.

That’s how Blue Blankie Stories was born.

Every story we create is designed to feel like a favorite blanket wrapped around your child’s imagination. Our stories are personalized, filled with wonder, and centered around kindness, curiosity, family, friendship, and adventure. Most importantly, they’re crafted to be gentle and comforting while still feeling magical and engaging.

Our goal isn’t simply to entertain children.

It’s to help create peaceful bedtimes, meaningful family moments, and stories that children look forward to hearing night after night.
